3 Michaluk Children Orphaned
Zyg, Ursula and George spent the next period in government custody.

Ursula and George were soon adopted by a european family - Lidija and Nicholas Nikon. They had a modest house in Spotswood, a western suburb of Melbourne, where the children grew up until they eventually left home to live their own lives with eventually, have their own families.

The Nikons were a well educated couple - with Lidija being a matriculant and Nicholas being a past professor of biology from the Warsaw University. Unfortunately due to his poor English, he wasn't able to continue his profession in Australia and worked as a process operator for a major oil refinery.

Zyg was not adopted and lived at the St Vincent De Paul Orphanage in South Melbourne. The Nikon's were very good in that they maintained contact all the time with Zyg. Whenever possible, they would pick him up on weekends and bring him home so that the three children be together - and he would also stay during holidays. It wasn't tghe same as being together all the time, but in the circumstances, it was next best. And that was the way (more or less) that their lives panned out until they went their own way.
