Michaluk History in Australia cont'd.

1957 - JANUARY 10, TRAGEDY STRIKES
Anna Michaluk died suddenly. There have been conflicting beliefs as to the cause, however the City Coroners report stated that the cause of death was due to an "air embelism". Anna Michaluk was laid to rest at the Keilor cemetary on the 14th January, 1957.

For the better part of the next 6 months, Jan Michaluk did his best to continue working and looking after his three children, with the assistance of neighbours.

1957 - JUNE 8, TRAGEDY STRIKES AGAIN
On the evening of June 8, Jan Michaluk was killed. The unfortunate event occurred after an argument with "one of his best friends", who in turn, then killed himself. There are many beliefs as to what transpired on that night (and this is not the forum to express those beliefs), however, undoubtedly excess alcohol may have played a part.

The immediate result was three orphans in the Michaluk family (Zyg aged 10, Ursula aged 6 and George aged 3). In another family, a wife and 5 children left husbandless/fatherless.

The Michaluk children were taken into government custody.
